We work very closely with primary and secondary schools – particularly Transition Year students – to develop a tailor-made programme in conjunction with the schools.
Overview
Nepal Green Tara Foundation (NGTF) has always been continually working to promote development in whichever region that we have worked in.
Development is a big word and can be connected with multiple aspects, hence to be a bit more centered NGTF efforts are more towards the advancement of education at schools, ensuring that students are equipped with the proper tools to compete and advance themselves (books, stationary, clothes, health camps and others), identifying and eradicating human trafficking and most importantly protecting, guiding and supporting the future generations.
We at NGTF prioritize Development Education, basically it means that via this form of education we aim to raise awareness and understanding of how global issues affect the everyday lives of individuals, communities and societies. This will also help to develop young people’s sense of civic responsibility and for them to appreciate as well as understand the root causes of poverty and inequality in the world. Components can include workshops, review of projects around Nepal, motive-based interactions and a few more.
We give students an insight into life in remote parts of Nepal and our work there by looking at photos and video clips, as well as seeing how some of the people we work with actually spend their day.
$50
gives a student books, a uniform, and supplies for a year
We also talk about the everyday realities of living in a caste-based society, women’s roles and child labor in Nepal. The emphasis is on involving students and getting them to think for themselves about development issues and how the root causes of poverty can be addressed.
