Earthquake aid relief work - May 18

Just a quick update in relation to our Operation - Angel Earthquake Relief Aid. Meant for all our Donors.

Till date we have delivered Relief Aid such as food and shelter to 16 VDC and 26 wards, which comprises of over 2500 homes. These homes are dotted all over East, North and West of Kathmandu. The furthest we travelled to provide aid was, Khumbu in the Himal Everest Region. The Villages in this area were Upper and lower Thame, Chainakpa and Hilajung.

We have yet to deliver TENTS AND CORRUGATED Aluminium ROOF SHEETS to several villages located up in the mountainous regions, this is where shelter is desperately needed, is one of the poorest regions and has the toughest off road driving challenges for us. We are looking forward to receiving the tents from Hong Kong this coming Sunday. Many Thanks to Yat Sui and his family.

My wife Bandi Nima Sherpa Tenzing and I (Tashi Wangchuk Tenzing) on behalf of the entire NGTF team would like to personally thank all our donors and friends who have, so graciously donated funds from their hearts towards the people of Nepal during these critical times, with numerous earthquakes taking place continually and with special reference to the 2 devastating earthquakes which took place on the 25th of April and the 12th of May. Thank you all once again and may God bless you all.

Tashi Tenzing

Tashi was born in Darjeeling, India on 30 Nov, 1965 - youngest son of Pem Pem who is Tenzing Norgay's eldest daughter. Tenzing, with Sir Edmund Hillary, made the first ascent of Everest on 29th May 1953. Tashi's mother is also a climber. She was a member of the 1959 International Women's Expedition to Cho Oyu, in Nepal - the 7th highest mountain in the world - an expedition which ended tragically in the death of two climbers.
